Each year Killara Bowling Club holds The Cyril South Competition. Killara invite teams from Zone 9 to each play the Killara team. This is done over a period of some months. At the end of these play offs the four teams that have beaten Killara by the greatest overall ( big board) margin then play off against each other for the Cyril South Trophy.
This is a 3 bowls, 3 teams, triples comp for players Grade 3 or lower. Pittwater has won this comp. three times since 2013. This year 2019 we again sent our 9 players Wednesday 23rd Jan. The weather at Killara was humid and very blustery making play difficult. However Pittwater got up by 1 point with the very last bowl of the day delivered by Bernie Attfield. Pittwater 59 Killarra 58.May not be good enough to get to the final , but who knows?
By the way the game is broken at half time for afternoon tea.Jam, cream and scones that would win a prize at a CWA bake off, fabulous! .
